It has been a very productive first three months of the year at Org de Rac – we’ve completed an early and fast-paced, yet high-quality wine harvest. A bumper crop of beautiful olives has been pressed and the 2024 vintage of our organic extra-virgin olive oil should be ready for release shortly. Plus we’ve recently returned from a successful engagement with the international trade, with more exciting events coming soon.

Vintage 2024

Our vineyard and winemaking teams barely had time to celebrate the new year, with the first grapes arriving thick and fast from as early as 3 January. The delivery of our state-of-the-art new Willmes press created an extra air of anticipation in the cellar, along with cutting-edge destemming and cooling equipment. With the last fermentations now complete, winemaker Lizelle Gerber is experimenting with blends and filling our clay amphoras and barrels for the next maturation cycle. She says that while yields were generally lower this year, wine lovers can look forward to exceptional quality coming from Vintage 2024.

Olive Harvest

The end of the wine harvest coincided with the start of our annual olive harvest. The ancient craft of making olive oil has become a prized tradition on Org de Rac and this year’s liquid gold is brimming with fresh flavours of green grass, Mediterranean herbs and spicy pepper. Look out for the imminent release of our 2024 vintage organic extra-virgin olive oil, available to purchase from our online shop.

ProWein

Our sales and marketing team was recently joined by GM Johan Gerber for the world’s biggest annual wine trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany. ProWein took place from  10-12 March 2024 and our exhibition was well attended, allowing us to build on Org de Rac’s current healthy presence in the international market and forge new trade connections.

Annual Price Increase

Our annual wine price increase comes into effect from 1 April 2024, so make sure to get your orders in this week to benefit from 2023 prices for a final time. It is also the last opportunity to purchase our popular Mixed Case Summer Special including 2 bottles each of the Estate Range Rosé, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc at a 15% discount.

We wish all our loyal customers, trade partners and suppliers a blessed Easter Holiday. Travel safe and if you are travelling on the N7 over this period, be sure to stop by at Org de Rac to taste our wines, olive oil and delicious new menu additions – showcasing the finest flavours of the Swartland.

Cheers from Org de Rac Team
